Congratulations on the Lab's New Paper Published in Advances in Optics and Photonics !
A research team from the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), CAS, led by Prof. Wei Li, has published a comprehensive review titled "Non-reciprocal thermal photonics—from fundamentals to applications: a tutorial" in Advances in Optics and Photonics.
This tutorial provides a systematic overview of recent breakthroughs in non-reciprocal thermal photonics. By utilizing the Onsager–Casimir relations, the authors establish a generalized Kirchhoff’s law of thermal radiation, offering a rigorous framework for understanding the relationship between directional absorptivity and emissivity. This work provides critical insights and design methodologies for next-generation non-reciprocal devices.
This paper also highlights challenges in non-reciprocal thermal radiation experiments and discusses potential solutions, while highlighting the latest advancements and prospects of non-reciprocal photonics in solar cells, thermal photovoltaic systems, and radiative heat transfer.
Providing a thorough overview of the fundamentals, experimental approaches, and applications of non-reciprocal thermal photonics, this tutorial aims to enhance understanding of its principles and facilitate advancements in energy harvesting and heat flux control.
Warmest congratulations to Jiawei Wang and Prof. Wei Li!
